An Ice Crusher or Ice Shaver as some people call it is a device or home appliance that breaks down ice block and cubes into smaller chunks. The idea is that they make it easier and more refreshing to drink a drink with ice in. They are also heavily used when making cocktails because the smaller cubes fit in the mixer easier
Ice Crushers generally come in two types, Manual and Electric. They can both be used easily but they both have different advantages.
A manual crusher usually has a handle that can be used to manually crush the ice up using a blade and grinder. It is cranked, and then that spins the blade in order to crush the ice. A big advantage to using the manual ice crusher is that it is less likely for the appliance to break or jam, as you are controlling the crushing and the amount of ice that goes into the crusher.
