You know, it's summer in the North End when the coffee is Polcari (105 Salem St.) starts selling slush lemon corner.
It is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is a tradition that goes back at least half a century, according to store owner Bobby Eustace.
"I have owned Polcari for six years and worked here for 26 years, but the lemon slush was here much more than that," said Eustace. "They used to do it by hand back in the day using a kind of dry ice.I guess we are doing this for 50 years at least, and perhaps even back to the founding of the store (in 1932).

When I was a kid I always loved when my dad would yell that it was margarita time and then bring out his margarita machine . The reason why I really liked this time is not because I drank alcohol when I was a kid, but because the margarita machine can also function as a slush ice machine and because my dad would make the most delicious and kid friendly slush ice for me. These drinks were actually so tasty that all of my friends from school would love to come to parties to my home just so my dad could make them slush ice (and to hang around with me of course). My favorite taste ever was the blueberry and strawberry slush ice and I have to admit that it is a direct pass to heaven once you taste this magical and delicious drink for the first time ever.
